Design of Waste Management Facilities for New Buildings
- Collaboration with project architects at pre-planning stage
- Design advice to ensure the development takes into account requirements of the Waste Management Acts and Associated Regulations, the Protection of the Environment Act and Associated Regulations, the Packaging Regulations and the Litter Act.
- Modelling of waste production in a development using models developed and calibrated over a 10 year period with waste generation data from many developments, to accurately predict the types, weights and volumes of waste to be generated in different types of retail, commercial, industrial and residential schemes
- Calculation of budget waste management costs prior to opening of a development, using predictive modelling software
- Assessment of required dimensions and locations for waste storage areas
- Design input to ensure the development is designed to allow for the correct and legally compliant segregation, storage, movement, handling, processing and off-site disposal of waste
- Specification of fit-out of dimensions of waste storage areas, access requirements, overhead clearance, collection points, drainage requirements, ventilation requirements and power and water requirements
- Specification and design of grease trap facilities to ensure compliance with new standards
- Assessment of waste dewatering systems to ensure compliance with Local Authority Licensing Requirements
- Application for Trade Effluent Discharge licence on behalf of commercial clients for discharge of commercial wastewater to sewer
Preparation of Waste Management Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning Reports
- Calculation of C&D waste volumes and types, calculation of operational waste volumes and types, assessment of potential impacts and design of mitigation measures for operational and C&D waste generation
