NISO conference will drive health and safety forward |
While ‘driving for a living’ will be addressed at the NISO
conference in Castlebar later this month, the gathering’s focal point
will be the future of health and safety.
The catchy title for the conference, Driving Safety & Health,
signifies “a long look into the future”, in the words of NISO president
Pauric Corrigan. One of the keynote speakers will be Brenda O’Brien
from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. O’Brien will
look at what the future holds. The former chairman of the HSA, Frank
Cunneen, will reflect on the developments over the past 20 years since
the Authority was established.
Delegates will get a graphic insight into the personal consequences of
accidents from a young Canadian woman, Candace Carahan, who herself
lost her leg in a workplace accident. She will speak about the
consequences of accidents for victims.
