Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks Course Details: 

CSCS Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks - This training covers the requirements you must meet when signing, lighting and guarding the work site. You must ensure that you act in accordance with all current specifications and procedures and that you follow safe working practices at all times when carrying out the activities covered in this unit.

Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks Programme:

  • Provide detailed plan for an intended site, showing all relevant distances, sizes and dimensions in accordance with the Safety at Streetworks and Road Works Code of Practice.
  • Produce a list of equipment for the intended site.
  • Produce a plan of intended site showing the position of signs, guarding and demonstrate the sequence of setting out the advance signing, safety zones and pedestrian walkways.
  • Demonstrate the positioning, testing, adjusting, commissioning and decommissioning of temporary traffic signals.
  • Answer a range of questions to demonstrate knowledge of the subject.
  • Conduct the activities safely wearing the appropriate safety wear.
  • To demonstrate sufficient knowledge by the way of oral or written questions.

Who Should Attend the Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks course:  

This programme is designed for managers, supervisors and operatives who are required to plan, organise, direct, control and manage the safe free flow of traffic through roadworks in rural and urban situations. This is in accordance with Chapter 8 Road Traffic Signs Manual, Department of the Environment.

None 

Signing, Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks Assessment / Certification: 

On successful completion of this three day course a CSCS card and certificate will be issued by FAS. Certificates are valid for a period of five years.
